To further our commitment to the dissemination of scientific content, PNAS also participates in the following initiatives:
Research4Life has four programs—Hinari, AGORA, OARE, and ARDI—and provides free or low cost online access to peer-reviewed content in the developing world.
Hinari Research in Health, set up by the World Health Organization and major publishers, enables developing countries to gain access to one of the world's largest collections of biomedical and health literature.
Access to Global Online Research in Agriculture (AGORA), set up by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and major publishers, enables developing countries to gain access to a digital library collection in the fields of food, agriculture, environmental science, and related social sciences.
Online Access to Research in the Environment (OARE), an international public private consortium coordinated by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), Yale University, and leading science and technology publishers, enables developing countries to gain access to one of the world's largest collections of environmental science research.
Access to Research for Development and Innovation (ARDI), a program coordinated by WIPO and its partners in the publishing industry, aims to increase the availability of scientific and technical information in developing countries.
Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL), an international not-for-profit organization based in Europe, works in collaboration with libraries in more than 45 developing countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe, to enable access to knowledge for education, learning, research, and sustainable community development.
The electronic Journals Delivery Service (eJDS) is a tool that allows scientists who live and work in least developed or low-income countries to access current scientific literature, mainly in the fields of physics and mathematics.
Additional Resources
The AuthorAID project from INASP supports early-career researchers in low- and middle-income countries in communicating their research through mentoring, online courses in research writing and other skills, facilitated discussions (for example, through online journal clubs), and a range of open resources.
